The City of Ogdensburg is unable to assist us as they cannot "find" grant funding to assist in the restoration of this historic Ogdensburg landmark.
While this is disappointing, it was expected. Nothing comes easily for us. That's the way it has always been.
The Roethel's are working to re-establish the beacon in the lighthouse. After much research and many meetings, the Ogdensburg Harbor Light is on it's way to becoming a member of the American Lighthouse Foundation.
Our current project is the historic restoration of the tower. An outline of the work that needs to be done will be posted soon. We will then keep you updated on the progress of that work.
When the restoration is completed, it is our plan to open the tower for tours like Dad did over the years.
Coming soon - Photo Gallery - through the years and an online virtual tour. The tour is almost ready. You will be able to see the progress of the restoration as the work progresses.
Soon to be available - a full line of licensed Ogdensburg Lighthouse merchandise. Sweatshirts, Polos, bags, caps, t-shirts and candles, postcards and note cards. The copyrights and trademarks have been registered so we are now in the production of these items. Just a note - the merchandise we will be selling is being produced by River Rat Designs of Ogdensburg. River Rat Designs is owned and operated by Laurel Lee Roethel so you know all the products are truly authentic and made by a Roethel family member.
Now available limited signed prints of paintings done of the Harbor Light by Laurel B. Roethel. Currently there are two different prints for sale in three different sizes, 16 x 20, 8 x 10, and 4 x 6.
Signed Prints can be obtained from our supplier River Rat Designs. river_rat_designs@yahoo.com for information. Photos of the prints will be uploaded to this site in the next couple of days for your viewing.
Thank you for your interest in our family's home, please sign the guestbook. Our Dad had a guestbook at the base of the tower and he always had visitors sign in when they toured the lighthouse. He was so proud to show how many people from around the world came to visit.
